More than 6000 guests celebrated the monumental opening ceremony.

Roman Niewodniczanski, winemaker of the Van Volxem winery, inaugurated his new factory on the weekend of the 7 July 2020. The celebrations took place on two days, with the gates having opened for the first time for a wide assortment of guests on Saturday. Besides numerous sales representatives, exporters for foreign countries, involved craftsmen and the construction team, Mrs Malu Dreyer attended this special event alongside the press. Dreyer, who is the Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, delightfully referred to the new manufactory as a "lighthouse project“. She has emphasised the significance of this milestone by marking it as extremely important for the entire region of the Moselle & Saar.

"The new manufactory is a lighthouse project for the whole region". – Ms. Malu Dreyer, (Prime Minister of Rhineland Palatinate)

On Sunday, the private guests were taken on a tour through the „sacred halls“ of the new manufactory.

German starred chefs from the region and the surrounding area had their toques on during the whole event. Harald Wohlfart, Lea Linster, Nils Henkel and Alexander Kunz swung their kitchen knives to provide the guests with authentic culinary experiences.

Guest came from all over Europe to celebrate this monumental event in German VDP® wine history.

With this project, Roman Niewodniczanski has certainly implemented a unique construction project. However, on top of that, he has also showcased the ever relevant position of the Saar in the international wine scene that should by no means be neglected. With his dry Grand Crus and stringent, natural wines, he consciously draws on the era of the 19th century. This quality is not only valued here in Germany. As an example, Chinese top importers and wine connoisseurs have keenly been interested in Van Volxem for a considerable period of time. A dedicated delegation of 8 experts visited from Shanghai specifically for the purpose of officially importing Van Volxem’s wines throughout China.
